‘Charity Walk for Peace 2019 Proud to Donate £15,000 to Local Charities’
Local charities walked away with £15,000 on Friday December 6th after they received the proceeds of this year’s Charity Walk for Peace.
16 charities received money raised through the annual Charity Walk for Peace, organised by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association in association with East Hampshire District Council (EHDC).
The walk, held in May this year, was the third annual walk with East Hampshire District Council. More than 300 people took part in the walk along a 5KM route around Petersfield.
Gill Kneller, EHDC Chief Executive, said:
“This is the third year we have worked with Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association UK to put on this fantastic walk and each time it has got bigger and bigger and raised more and more money for charity. The work the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association has done for this district and across the country is exceptional and we are very much looking forward to hosting the walk again next June. We are very lucky in East Hampshire to have such a strong and active voluntary sector and I am delighted that we have been able to support so many charities through this year’s walk.”
Dr Atta ul Quddus, Regional President Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association UK said:
“The aim of the Charity Walk for Peace is to strengthen bonds and promote peace and community cohesion. Among the key principles of Islam, one is to help and care for those in need and to live in peace with our neighbours. The walks allow us to help local people by supporting the fantastic charities that do so much great work in East Hampshire.”
Next year’s walk is already being planned and will be held on 6th June 2020.
