Charity Walk for Peace School Awareness Reception
The members of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association arranged a special lunch for the staff of Hillbrook Primary School, Tooting, London.
Over 50 teachers and staff were invited to the canteen where the members had arranged a video presentation. The walls were lined with various Charity Walk for Peace popups.
Rafi Ahmad, vice Chairman for Charity Walk for Peace, presented 2 videos. The first was a recording of the welcome address by Sir Robin Wales, Mayor of Newham – he had welcomed us in 2016 where we held the walk in Silvertown, and again this year he was very ken for us to carry out the walk in and around Dockside.
The 2nd video showed extracts from the Cheque Presentation Reception at the House of Commons where more than 60 charities collected various amounts of donations for their specific causes.
Rafi Ahmad introduced the work of the charity and the various projects that are undertaken by the charities using the funds donated to them. He thanked the staff and teachers for sharing their valuable time.
The headteacher, Ms Laurie-Ann Lamb, thanked the CWFP hosts and explained how important it was to continue the good works they were doing especially in relation to the horrific news of the terror incident in Westminster only the day before.
The teachers then interacted with the CWFP members and enjoyed the hot lunch prepared especially for them by the host Noor Region. A very special thank you to the hard work of Mr Mahboob Shahid, who is the local community leader for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association.
