Charity Cheque Presentation – Glasgow
A cheque presentation ceremony was held on Sunday 14 April 2019 organised by Charity Walk for Peace at Bait ul Rehman Mosque in Glasgow.
The CWFP Scotland region had previously held a successful Charity Walk and organised various charity bucket collections throughout the year in 2018 at places such as Tesco’s, Asda and Morrison’s super stores.
The beneficiaries of the funds collected were presented to:
- Poppy Scotland £7000
- Save The Children Scotland £500
- Aberlour Children’s Charity £700
- Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity £1250
- Ronald McDonald House £950
- Beatson Cancer Charity £950
- Glasgow Night Shelter £400
- Children Hospice Association Scotland CHAS £400
- Amara Association £950
- Ibrox primary school £500
Dignitaries at the event included MSP Sandra White and Margraet Ferrier of the SNP, and representatives of Police Scotland.
Guests spoke at the event congratulating and applauding the work of Charity Walk for Peace for organizing such an amazing an event to raise funds for the various Charities in Scotland who served the needy in the Communities.
In his welcome address, the Regional Coordinator for CWFP Scotland, Mr Ahmed Owusu-Konadu thanked all the guests for attending and added that “the beneficiary charities must never view the work of Charity Walk for Peace as doing them a favour, because serving the needy, poor and vulnerable is a Religious responsibility that must be fulfilled and that is one of the many beauties of the Islamic faith.”
The event was attended by more than 50 guests, and the evening ended with everyone being served with Chicken curry, Rice, Nan bread and for those who preferred the vegetarian option, then Chickpea curry and Spinach and potato curry was on offer.
