Caritas Anchor House
Caritas Anchor House has been awarded £2,000.87 by the Charity Walk for Peace to help support and further our vital work with homeless people in East London.
Caritas Anchor House was presented with the cheque at a reception held in the House of Commons, co-hosted by the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association (AMEA) and the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community.
This summer, residents and staff of Caritas Anchor House took part in the 28th annual Charity Walk for Peace, in London’s Royal Docks. Organised by AMEA, the event aims to support vulnerable and disadvantaged people and to promote peace and goodwill. Over 2,500 people participated and helped to fundraise £3 million for local and national charities.
Dr Ijazur Rehman, President of AMEA UK, said “It was heartening to see the event so well attended by the charities and senior parliamentarians. The Ahmadiyya Muslim Community’s long-standing motto is ‘Love for All, Hatred for None’ and this walk epitomised the very essence of this, where people of different religions and race came together for a common cause of building a better world.”
Keith Fernett, Chief Executive of Caritas Anchor House, said, “We are grateful to have the support of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Elders Association, which will enable us to further our life changing work with hundreds of homeless people each year. Their desire to support so many charities working with the most disadvantaged in society is highly commendable.”
